ABOUT THE CAPTAIN

Addison Cooley grew up in the Texas Hill Country. He has always had a passion for fishing and hunting. He grew up sight fishing for bass on the crystal-clear Blanco River. This taught him a great deal about how fish feed, spawn and react to conditions. He has been fortunate enough to go on countless vacations to the Gulf Coast, the Rocky Mountains, Central America, and the Caribbean. Captain Cooley still takes trips each year to expand his fishing knowledge and experiences, as he has always strived to be the best at each type of fishing, with saltwater being his passion.

During his time in college in Corpus Christi, he started working in deep-sea fishing in Port Aransas. In 2012, he earned a 100-ton USCG captain’s license. Cooley developed a fondness for marlin, but it was the trout of Baffin Bay that truly captured his interest. For the first five years of his captain career, he fished the Laguna Madre and its surrounding areas. The first time he visited POC (Port O’Connor), he fell in love with the town, the bays, and the redfish. While the trout is good here, the redfish are widely regarded as the best in Texas. If Captain Cooley isn’t catching reds on his ultracat, you can bet he is out on the BOTE rover somewhere in the marsh, fly fishing for them.
